This Month in 1992…

Ashley | May 31, 2016

In this month of May, Faithful was released 24 years ago! One of the songs many people can sing (or play!) when asked to name a favorite song from Teresa, is “My Shepherd”, the sixth track on the album.

Teresa is psalmist, whom God has used to break bondages and ushers in the presence of the Lord. For her second album, Teresa wanted to capture the Lord’s presence and anointing power in her songs. Her heart is that when people listen to the music, they don’t hear her, they experience the Lord.

Teresa says about the album:

I dedicate this to Rev. Agnes I. Numer and to the precious people of the Philippines who believed that God would make this song “FAITHFUL” my testimony.

The title track of the album was written as prophetic word to a friend of Teresa’s. Little did Teresa know that during the most trying seasons of Teresa’s life, people would sing it to her, as reminder of His faithfulness. The beginning words say it all:

“Faithful, You’re faithful to receive all the Glory
Faithful, You’re faithful to receive all the Praise
Faithful, You’re faithful and your making me faithful too”

During the difficult season, Teresa knew that if she wanted to make it through she had to do two things: give Him the praise and give Him the glory. Being mentored by Rev. Agnes Numer, she knew no matter how bleak a situation, that didn’t change the goodness of the Lord, or His faithfulness. Teresa sings from a place of experience, and that’s what makes listeners connect with her and be able to receive what the Lord brings through her music.

Faithful is one of Teresa’s most recognized works and contains some of her most poignant music. Its’ anointing, beautiful music and heartfelt lyrics have stood the test of time with listeners, and the Presence of the Lord never fails to minister to hearts as the music plays.

You can buy and download Faithful at your favorite music store: Google Play Music, iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp.
